According to this blog post at njection.com, google trends accurately predicted the outcome of the 2004 election. While this isn’t exactly a scientifically exhaustive study, you might find his results interesting nonetheless due to the sheer volume of data that google trends is crunching. Not only does performing some comparisons show that Ron Paul has far-and-away the most interested searchers on the web, but the story-volume report also shows how under reported he is in the media. It’s nice to see real data backing up the media bias that we all know empirically to exist.
