Vote Ron Paul

Ron Paul is the best Presidential candidate I’ve heard speak… probably ever. If you watch this and still don’t vote for him, then I have very, very little hope for this country.

Freudian Slip

No love for KerryI don’t believe for one second that John Kerry didn’t mean to belittle our soldiers. I believe that he’s so accustomed to acting like what he thinks the people want to see, that his true self only comes out in rare Freudian Slips. It’s my belief that his recent statement to the affect that all people who choose to serve in our Military are the bottom of the barrel as far as intellect ans study habits goes, was the real John Kerry. He, along with what is most likely a majority of the Democratic party, have nothing but disdain and vitriol for our troops. They are just better at hiding it than Kerry (unless we’re talking about Murtha, who accuses fellow Marines of rape and murder without any evidence but what the enemy provides). Boortz talked about this on his site this morning, and I believe his sentiments mirror my own.

Just as predicted, John Kerry strode to a microphone yesterday and attempted to apologize for saying those who didn’t study hard and get an education would wind up in Iraq. Here is how he said it: “I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended. As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: My poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.”

Now…to properly understand Kerry’s apology, you will need an interpretation. Here is what he really means:

  1. He regrets that his words were misinterpreted. What he really means here is that if anyone thought he was insulting our troops abroad, that means they’re an idiot. Remember, no one is as smart as John Kerry…and if you don’t know what John Kerry meant, then that means you’re just not qualified to pass judgment on The Poodle. Only if and when you become as intelligent as The Kept Man will you ever know what he truly meant. Translation: it’s all your fault.
  2. As a combat veteran…his comment was never intended to refer to any troop. Translation: hey…John Kerry served in combat for a few months, milking it for several purple hearts and medals…ribbons? Ok, medals. By saying only dumb people wind up in Iraq, he didn’t mean the troops. He meant….well, he’s not sure. But it wasn’t troops…because, hey…he’s been there. Oh .. and his words must have also been “misinterpreted” last year when he talked about our troops “terrorizing women and children” and several years ago when he compared them to the rampaging hoards of Genghis Kahn.

At the end of the day, the basic thrust of Kerry’s “apology” is that anyone who thinks he meant what he meant is not as smart as he is. Typical elitist, leftist condescension….and part of the reason he was blown out in the 2004 election.

Rummy Fires Back

On the site Real Clear Politics an article entitled “A Reaffirming Conversation With Donald Rumsfeld” appeared and caught my eye. The following snippet in particular resonated with me:

About our enemies, he spoke of the patience he finds without fail in our troops but far less in the American public. Al-Qaeda knows it is in a waiting game, the only game it can win. “They cannot defeat us militarily,” he told me. “All they can do is wait for a gap in American resolve.”

Sadly, those gaps are widening. I told him I was starting to get snarky e-mails from people who sneer that at the end of 2006 we will have been in this war for the length of our involvement in World War II, as if the absence of Jeffersonian democracy across the Middle East by then will be proof positive that the war was a bust.

Mr. Rumsfeld’s reply: “If you want to go back to World War II, you have to take into account the years it took after the surrenders of Germany and Japan for real stability to be established in those countries.”

History should consider it a miracle that evil, bitter American enemies like Germany and Japan were turned into reliable allies within a generation. We also maintain troops in those countries 60 years after the war ended. Against that backdrop, whining about this war three years in looks pathologically shortsighted.

I recommend the whole article. It’s quite an interesting alternate perspective to what you’ll see, hear or read in the “mainstream news.”

Investor’s Business Daily: Saddam Had WMD

Told ya!

President Bush awaits your appologies, and thanks.

A Democrat Gets It Right

I just read a fantastic article written by a great man. I certainly don’t agree with Senator Joe Lieberman on all issues, which doesn’t separate him from all other politicians or talking-heads, but he has published a great piece on Iraq that I wish everyone would read. I heard about this article and heard him discuss it on a best-of talk-radio thing AM 750 was doing today while out shopping. It was a segment from Hannity’s show where he had the Senator on with him. The funny thing about this for me is that Sean will get crap from the far-right Republican base for being nice to a Democrat, and Joe will get crap from the far-left Democrat base for a) talking to Sean, and b) supporting the Iraqi people and our troops. In any case, Sean was talking to Sen. Lieberman about an Op-Ed he wrote for The Wall Street Journal on the plane-ride home from a visit to Iraq. Intrigued by their conversation I decided to find and read the article, and all I can say is wow. It is a very well written and well timed article. Check out this paragraph:

Here is an ironic finding I brought back from Iraq. While public opinion polls in the U.S. show serious declines in support for the war and increasing pessimism about how it will end, polls conducted by Iraqis for Iraqi universities show increasing optimism. Two-thirds say they are better off than they were under Saddam and a resounding 82% are confident their lives in Iraq will be better a year from now than they are today. What a colossal mistake it would be for America’s bipartisan political leadership to choose this moment in history to lose its will, and in the famous phrase, to seize defeat from the jaws of the coming victory.

I highly recommend the rest of the article. It’s definitely a must-read.
