Try again next year

Well… our season is over. We suck this year. Tennessee hung 51 on us, and now Vanderbilt… that’s right… F’n Vanderbilt just beat us with a field goal. That it was that close is a loss for us in and of itself. But to actually lose to them for the first time since ‘94 is just plain inexcusable. Fortunately for me, I gave up all hope for a good season last game after they raised my hopes in the first half, only to have them stomped to death and spit on in the second. So, I’ll go to the games and enjoy friends and beer, but no more hope of BCS bowls, or bowl games at all for that matter.

Time for a staff shakeup.

We’ll Call It A Draw

If the Dawgs can’t win (stupid mountaineers… stupid UGA coaches… <grumbles-incoherently/>), at least now I can take solace in the fact that USC couldn’t either! Congrats to the Longhorns and to Vince Young… who obviously should also have won the Hiesman.

2005 SEC Champions

GO DAWGS!!!

In a game where no one (including me) thought we’d pull away, much less dominate, we finally hit on all cylinders. We completely dominated LSU and put on quite an impressive show. Congrats to the team and all involved on a fantastic season. Bring on West Virginia!

Dawg’s Season = Successful!

Well… we beat Tennessee and Tech (among several others). So, for me the season is a success. There are 3 major games that I care about; and they are (in no particular order)…

  • Florida
  • Tennessee
  • GA Tech

So, beating Tech yesterday gives us 2 of 3, and that ain’t bad. The SEC East championship is nice and everything, but give me a win over those 3 in one season and I don’t care what else happens.

Now… that being said, there is a stain on this years version of the Dawg watching experience. Unfortunately this stain belongs to the Redcoat Band. I was a proud member of said band for 5 years and I loved every minute (it’s where I met my wife!). But they’ve got a new stands tune that I don’t understand. It doesn’t sound bad or anything, it just doesn’t make sense for a football game. It’s “Paint It Black” by the Rolling Stones. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fine song. It’s just that when I think football in the south, I don’t think “60’s era war protest song from a hippy rock band.” Call me crazy!

Granted, it’s not a big deal, and there are probably only about 5 people who care. But, I’m proud to call myself a Redcoat, and so I’d like for them to make good song choices. I’m no less proud to have been a Redcoat now, but I hate seeing them go down-hill.
